Luxury Bernabeu

It's good value for money and the concept is interesting. You let yourself in and check yourself out. Simple and easy.

The place was comfortable and very good value and only a short walk from Tetuan metro. I left my ipad behind and the owner found it and let me know. I hope to pick it up tomorrow when I return to Madrid.

We didnt get the message with the code number to enter the property till we had been waiting outside for a while.

Spacious rooms. Easy checking-in with code. Good mattress. Very clean.

Location isn't the best although it's close to the center. Sound insulation between rooms could be improved with better doors.

Clean, staff and location

Located 30 minutes steady walk from Bernabeu Football stadium, along well lit roads (important at midnight).Room delightful, good facilities in private bathroom. Downstairs kitchen fully equipped for any catering, including 2 Nespresso machines! Some coffee and sugar provided and herbal teas. Lovely outside courtyard to relax in. Very nearby Metro station, about 15 mins ride into the centre of Madrid. 4 day travel card very useful. Great number of bars and cafes all around, not charging Tourist prices like in the centre!

My son and I were not met when we arrived, and did not see or hear from any Bernabeu staff for the whole 4 days. I have checked my emails, on return home, for any communication they may have sent me whilst at the property, but there was none.( They only had my email address.) We went back to the property 4 times on arrival day, the last time at the start of "checking in" time. Still no one there and no access into the property. I was glad we arrived during daylight! I went into the bar on the corner to ask for help. The barmaid, via sign language and very limited Spanish /English vocabulary between us, managed to phone the number I had in an email. The barmaid followed instructions to access the keypad on the door with difficulty at first. Eventually we entered and found our room, much to our relief. The radiators were on full blast 24 hours, with no way of turning them off/down. Luckily the windows opened. I had asked for twin beds but the two beds were made up as one. Easily separated, however, and we didn't need the one kingsize duvet. I think my son and I were the only guests in the house during the first night. I fully expected a staff member to appear the next morning, or at least leave us a note, but as I said before, we heard nothing from staff all the time we were there. I do not think this is good enough! Persons of a less resourceful/ more nervous disposition may have had their holiday spoiled by this unfortunate start! My son, who is autistic, was fortunately not too unsettled by this experience as he didn't know what was expected; I could have had many more problems than gaining access to the accommodation! There were no maps of the area or guide books in the house.

Location okay. Room adequate for two nights. Wouldn't recommend. Good place to get arepas about 5 minutes away. Different feel to when we stayed near Sevilla station, which was good to experience.

The owner appears to be a man - not the person in the listing, although that doesn't really matter. It's just a bit weird to post a random photo of someone! Poor communication, including a response about 36 hours later saying I'm on holiday. Not my problem dude - take responsibility. Another person was given as a contact and they just stopped responding all together. No one met us at the place despite us receiving a message about two days prior to our arrival saying they'd meet us at 3pm? Room a bit tatty and in need of some paint and a good scrub. Photos suggest the place is cleaner/nicer than it is in person. There is a door at the top of a spiral staircase on the 2nd floor that says do not enter - seems to be a seperate flat in the building, which was strange!

Large, spacious, nicely decorated room. Enormous kitchen and everything was spotlessly clean. Felt like I was staying at a rich friend’s house.
